The adventure begins...

We will begin this week by exploring the concept of Coming of Age.  It will be important that you setup your ELA notebook and that you find a Coming of Age novel and bring it to class on Friday August 10, 2018.  Pre-Course reading assignments may be submitted beginning this Monday August 5th and NO later than Friday August 17th.   Read here for more information concerning your assignment: 9th Lit PHS Pre-Course Reading Blog .  Please check the homepage for detailed directions for submitting your assignment electronically.  Read below to see our planned agenda for the week.  Also feel free to sign up for the class Remind to recieve updated notifications on assignments, activities and class information.  Our class Remind is at remind.com/join/whipple9  with our school code 81010.

TUESDAY - Unit 1 Common Unit Assessment and Reading Inventory; a review of Unit 1 Vocabulary
WEDNESDAY - Theme mini Lesson and reading of "On the Sidewalk Bleeding" 
THURSDAY - Symbolism in Flowers and Close Reading of "Marigolds" 
FRIDAY - Exploration and Comparison of Alice Walker's "The Flowers" 
On Friday, you will begin your start your personal reading plan and begin your parallel reading of your chosen Coming of Age novel.   Please make sure that you secure your novel by Friday!
