This week, we will continue our study of Othello. We will finish the reading of the play this week and watch a movie adaptation of the work.  You will need to pay attention to our study. You will have an exam over this play on Monday October 8, 2018. 

WATCH A PLAY OR MOVIE:
Your parallel reading assignment for this unit, is to watch or read another  play and make comparisons to our study of Othello in an analytical essay.   An analytical essay means you will need to present some type of argument, or claim, about what you are analyzing.  To do this, you must break the topic down into parts and provide evidence, either from the text/film or from your own research, that supports your claim. The essay will be in MLA format (please see attached Word document) and will focus on one aspect of both plays like characterization, author's style, themes etc. 
You may choose the play you would like to watch or read.  It could be Shakespeare or something else entirely.  If you have questions about what to watch please see me BEFORE the assignment due date to discuss your options.

We will begin reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley in class on Monday October 15th.  Scholars should purchase this text and have it available to read in class.  This work includes a copy of the text and several academic articles that we will read analyze.
