Thank you for those who were able to make it out to our virtual session this morning. This week we will continue our reading of "The Color Purple"  an we will have a viewing party scheduled on May 7th starting at 10:30 am! ALL AP Lit Scholars are welcome! 
This week you will continue to read The Color Purple, create a double journal entry concerning your reading. In addition, I invite you to re-imagine your poetry projects. Take your assigned poem and create a virtual presentation. Details are outlined on Schoology.  

We will not be returning to our physical building however your opportunities for learning abound.  In accordance to CCSD expectations PHS is adopting the digital learning schedule above.  In the meantime, learning will take place. You can reach me through email at dawn.whipple@cobbk12.org, through the Remind App messenger, or you can schedule a virtual Zoom meeting using this form. You do not need any special equipment for this app. I will send you an email confirmation with your scheduled appointment.

Question description
This question presents students with a passage of prose fiction of approximately 500–700 words, and assesses students’ ability to do the following:

• Respond to the prompt with a thesis that presents a defensible interpretation.
• Select and use evidence to support a line of reasoning.
• Explain how the evidence supports a line of reasoning.
• Use appropriate grammar and punctuation in communicating an argument.

Corresponding free-response question (FRQ) type in the course and exam description binder

• The single question on the 2020 AP English Literature and Composition Exam is a Prose Fiction Analysis question, which is FRQ 2 on a traditional AP Exam and in the CED. It is referred to as Question 1 because the 2020 exam has just that one question.
• The prompt will not include the title and author of the passage. Otherwise, the prompt will match the stable prompt language found in the CED.

Hello AP Literature Scholars, 

This week marks our 3rd week of digital learning. I will be switching up our mediums of engagement this week. So make sure that you read and pay attention to some of our new formats. I want to give you an opportunity to engage differently.

This week we will conclude our study of Frankenstein by focusing in our the larger themes of the novel like: the dangers of knowledge, nature vs. nurture, the impact of alienation, exploration, science and other elements. We will have a summative exam on Friday in the Media Center. You will also create a novel album on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday we will have a Novel album listening party in class.

I am looking forward to a GREAT semester of learning, fun and many challenges with the AP Literature curriculum. You have elected to take a demanding college-level class in the study of English Literature and Composition. bell hooks stated in her work Teaching to Transgress that, "The classroom remains the most radical space of possibility in the academy.” This course will be a 'space of possibility.' It is my goal and intent to push you past where you think you can go. 
My expectations of you are high because you deserve the very best.  Our time together will be a partnership. So it will be imperative that you avoid procrastination and shortcuts (like plagiarism) because they will only rob you of precious opportunities to learn. This course can be compared to that of fledgling garden, it will require your daily attention. You will succeed as an individual according to the effort put into the course. I am looking forward to seeing you all score well on the AP exam in May;
If you do become overwhelmed or confused, ask questions, seek help. I am here to help. Thank you for accepting the challenge of this course, I believe it will be a fruitful journey.
