PHS Debate Judge's League 

Would you like to help your community and yourself? You can gain mentoring experience, and VOLUNTEER HOURS by becoming a student judge for PHS Debate Squad. As a member of our Judges' League you will attend ONE or MORE of our monthly tournaments. You will help to mentor middle school students and earn volunteer hours at the same time. Please join us for our interest meeting on Wed October 16, 2019 at 3:45 pm in room 1002!

PHS Debate Squad Overview

The Pebblebrook Debate Squad is a dynamic and boisterous group on campus. If you are interested in learning new things, using your voice, and developing skills for your future. Debate not only gives you extensive experience in public speaking and critical thinking but you will have opportunities to earn scholarships, a graduation debate cord, and networking with others. 

Policy Debate 

Policy debate is a type of debate competition in which teams of two advocate for and against a resolution that typically calls for policy change by the United States federal government, this format tests a student’s research, analytical, and delivery skills.

​It involves the proposal of a plan by the affirmative team to enact a policy, while the negative team offers reasons to reject that proposal. Throughout the debate, students have the opportunity to cross-examine one another. A judge or panel of judges determines the winner based on the arguments presented.
